Demna revisited Balenciaga’s iconic silhouettes, transforming them with a modern twist, 39 looks that paid tribute to subcultural dress codes with historic references, which are key influences in Demna’s fashion vocabulary, Eccentric headwear, a hallmark of Cristobal Balenciaga’s original designs, was reinterpreted with a bold, contemporary edge, Butterfly masks, sweatshirts layered and twisted into gowns, and oversized denim, the show-stopping finale piece was a black nylon dress, Crafted from a staggering 47 meters of fabric, the dress was intricately draped around the model, this collection reaffirmed #Balenciaga’s position at the forefront of the fashion world, continually pushing boundaries while honoring its storied heritage.
« This couture collection is a tribute to subculture dress codes as important influences of my fashion vocabulary. I chose four permanent components of Cristóbal Balenciaga’s last two decades of collections and applied them on my design aesthetic in order to create a bridge between Balenciaga’s signature elegance and silhouette and my own personal style. » Demna
